Specialist/Job Developer- $33,000 - $38,000


This position provides direct customer service to program participants in the Workforce Investment Act (WIA).

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, job development and job referrals to customers, conduct mock interviews, develop resumes, conduct employment readiness training, maintain job bank for center job seekers, work as a team with case management to ensure successful placements, employment retention, coordinate or assist in the activities of On-The-Job-Training (OJT) including completing contracts with employers to be signed by management. Also responsible for activities related to business outreach, identifies local employers who are likely to employ the career center job seekers, arrange and conduct informational presentation to local businesses, associations, community partners, and employees, develop strategies that will create and maximize job opportunities for career center job seekers. Prepare reports related to business outreach and job placement, and marketing activities. Assist in the development of marketing tools necessary for the WorkSource Center. Coordinate and/or assist in job fairs, attend meeting(s) within and outside the Center, as required.

Requirements:
• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent experience
 Knowledge of labor market trends and the ability to match employers with qualified job applicants
• Commitment to customer-focused service delivery system, and at least one year social work or career counseling experience
• Ability to gather information, conduct orientation, workshops, interviews and counsel customers
• Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations
• Knowledge of the local community resources and public relations
• Ability to use personal computer for correspondence reports and data entry
• Good interpersonal skills, excellent written and verbal communication
• Bilingual – Spanish is a must
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Develop and maintain excellent working relationship with area employer customers and promote WorkSource Center Services and activities
• Conduct Center orientation and informational workshops for customers
• Work with businesses to identify job openings, alternative work activities, and training initiatives
• Assist employers in recruiting, interviewing, and hiring qualified applicants
• Work with Career Counselors to facilitate job placements
• Maintain a current listing of local job opportunities
• Perform follow-up of graduates from training and/or rehabilitation programs to evaluate how well local training programs relate to skills needed and desired in the community
• Enlist cooperation of community leaders to help increase awareness of available workforce services in the community
• Maintain follow-up contact with employers to determine satisfaction with services and plan for quality improvement
• Work with business to develop customized employee training (OJT) programs
• Perform other duties as assigned
