seeking FT Cook!


Line Cook (Skid Row)

Lamp Community ends homelessness of Los Angeles' most vulnerable individuals, primarily adults with mental illness, through a continuum of services and housing, enabling them to reach their highest level of self-sufficiency and community integration. Part-time. Two positions, each 32 hours/week. One is Sunday, Monday, Tuesday Wednesday from 6:30AM to 3PM. The other is Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday from 6:30AM to 3PM. The Line Cook performs a variety of tasks and operations to prepare and cook a large volume and variety of food items for meal service.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prepare the main entrée and side dishes for each meal
Follow standard practices, procedures, regulatory requirements, and food preparation and handling techniques
Comply with established standards of sanitation, personal hygiene, and health
Perform clean-up duties to maintain sanitary conditions in the workplace
Serve meals to program participants
Maintain cleanliness of kitchen equipment and food storage and refrigeration areas
Maintain the kitchen shelves, ceiling, floors, walls, and equipment in a clean, orderly and healthy condition
Aid in ordering/purchasing of food, household and maintenance items
Ensure shelf rotation and current inventory of stock items
Aid in minimizing spoilage and waste
Aid in executing Meals and Menus for programs
May be needed for delivering and/or picking up of equipment, supplies and prepared foods

QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have and be able to maintain a Serv-Safe certification
One year’s experience working in a large kitchen
Able to read, speak, and understand directions in English
Able to take direction and execute meal plans
Basic level of written and spoken communication skills
Current, valid California Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record preferred
Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred
