Streetlights Production Assistant Training Program

Want to break into the entertainment industry?? Streetlights is a non-profit that provides FREE TRAINING and JOB PLACEMENT for low-incomed applicants.

We provide job training, job placement and career advancement services to economically and socially at-risk individuals who come from predominantly disadvantaged areas of Los Angeles County. We seek to create much-needed diversity behind the camera in the entertainment industry.

Before we give a candidate the application, we ask that they submit two letters of recommendation from professional contacts--on letterhead. We determine from that point whether to give the candidate the application.

Applicants must be at least 20 years of age.

If male, must be registered with the selective service.

Must have access to a working car 24/7 with liability insurance, current car registration and a valid CA driver's license. Must be able to provide a current DMV driving record.

Must have a stable housing arrangement for the duration of the 4-week classroom program, 2-week on-location phase and the placement services that follow the training (up to 6 months).

Must be a low income or poverty level wage earner. There is no cost to the student to participate in the program, but the student must have the savings or resources to cover expenses for up to three months. While participating in the training and initial job placement, the students are not receiving any income, so we want to feel confident that they are able to take care of themselves financially for that period of time. Many students have savings in place or supply letters of financial support from family members.

No pending legal matters that could affect participation. Must have been out of jail or prison for one year. No convictions for murder or sexual offenses.

Must be clean and sober for 18 months at the time of application. Streetlights conducts random drug testing during the training period.
Must have working cell phone with voicemail, text and email capabilities.

Must have a guaranteed childcare system in place for the duration of participation in the program.
